Two of My Favorite Products

Perhaps you have come here in search of Menu Plan Monday. This is one of those Mondays when the Lord willed otherwise. This is mostly due to the fact that my youngest daughter is getting married in early August and this past week was filled with getting the invitations out. What I thought would take a day or two at the most ended up taking all week. Hence, no menu post for today.
However, I though it might be good to put up an easy post concerning a few of my favorite products.

Two lifesavers that we have come to depend upon and stock in our home are Zicam and NutriBiotic GSE (Grapefurit Seed Extract). Whenever either Robert or I feel like we are getting a cold or the flu we dose ourselves with these two preventatives. Zicam Cold Remedy is homeopathic and is clinically proven to shorten the duration of a cold. GSE acts like an antibiotic (without creating antibiotic-resistant bacteria), and also kills viruses. (You can check out the uses for GSE here. Although the brand is different - not GSE - the product is the same.) There are no side effects for either Zicam or GSE.

These two products taken together when a cold or the flu are in the very beginning stages really do knock the bugs right out of you. Just last week I went to bed feeling like I was getting something bad. I had a headache, beginnings of a sore throat and felt shaky inside. I dosed myself with both GSE and Zicam. I woke in the middle of the night (about 4 hours later) and took more of each. When I woke in the morning I felt fine. If I ever do get sick, being on both products shortens the illness and minimizes the symptoms dramatically.
Both really work and are safe for children also. The only thing you have to be careful to do is to continue to take both products for several days after you feel fine. Otherwise the nasty little bugs gang up on you again.

As another testimonial, GSE can be used for animals. My cat Mortimer has had a chronic sinus infection for 4 years. We would get him cleared up but only for a short time and it would come back. His eyes were affected (yucky drainage). About 7 months ago, Mort started eating canned cat food after having refused it for several years. We started him on a dose of one drop daily (GSE) added to his cat food. He eyes and sinuses were clear within a few days and as long as we give him a maintenance dosage (one drop several times a week in his food) he is fine.

I could tell you more, but what you need to know is where to get Zicam and GSE. Zicam is in every drug store and most grocery stores. GSE is available in health food stores. (Or click here for the website.) It might seem a bit pricey to you (around $11 for a 2 oz. bottle), but it (GSE) lasts for years. For the best price I've found visit VitaCost here.

These are two of my favorite products. They really work! If you decide to try them I am relatively sure that you will not be disappointed.

  1. I can vouch for these products! I use the Zicam Allergy and it's helped more than any other product I've tried for my allergies, including Claritin. It has really cut down on the allergy symptons especially runny eyes and morning puffiness. The GSE is a staple in my house, I put a drop in a few ounces of water and use in an empty saline nasal spray bottle. I try to use it every evening before bedtime as maintenance as I am very prone to sinus infections. Really great products!!

  2. I have used GSE. When I begin to get a case of the sniffles, I start using GSE and eventually it gets to the point where I forgot I had the sniffles all along. But an herbalist in Pharmaca told me to be cautious about taking GSE if there is possibility of being pregnant.. She advised me to only take a few drops (if I remember correctly 3 drops or even less) during the times when a woman thinks she is pregnant. She explained if GSE is so strong to be effective against fungi, it most likely can be harmful to a growing fetus. In her opinion, she rather have a woman not take it at all if she thinks there's a chance she's pregnant. Do you know any evidence of this?

  3. A midwife I know says GSE is safe for pregnant women - she has seen women who took it during pregnancies. But there are differences of opinion about this so always consult with your health care provider before use.
